A. San Jose Chinese Museum - 25th Anniversary
---
This weekend author Oliver Chin helped celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Chinese American Historical Museum in San Jose, CA.

A joint project by History San José and the Chinese Historical & Cultural Project (CHCP), the museum is a reconstruction of the 1888 Ng Shing Gung (Temple of the Five Gods) that was the downtown center for the Chinese American community. Located in History Park, the museum is one of 32 buildings of Silicon Valley's past, preserved to educate future generations.

Oliver enjoyed meeting festival goers and sharing his series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac and other books.

B. Tales perfect for Halloween
---
Are you ready for trick or treating? We have terrific tales that blend the best of both!

Boy Dumplings: A Tasty Chinese Tale is inspired by the Hungry Ghost Festival, an autumn tradition in China. The San Jose Mercury News interviewed author Ying Chang Compestine:

" 'You go to the tomb, you worship your ancestors,' she says. 'You bring food and paper money so they have enough in the underworld to buy whatever they need. And if they're happy, they watch over you.'

'And if the ghosts are not happy, they roam the earth looking for sustenance or delicious little boys,' says Compestine. A dumpling making session with her son, then a chubby-cheeked 9-year-old, inspired Boy Dumplings...the impish main character tricks a hungry ghost into an exhausting, all-night race through Beijing to find ingredients for Boy Dumplings."

For those of you hankering more colorful creatures, check out You Might be a Monster. Authored by Attaboy, this collection of funny poems recalls Shel Silverstein and introduces eye-popping beasts of every stripe.

C. Meomi murals in Boston
---
Meomi, the creators of The Octonauts, have illustrated vibrant murals on 6 floors of the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, MA.

Originally established as a hospital ship in Boston Harbor in 1894, Floating Hospital is now part of Tufts Medical Center and continues to care for those in need.

Meomi visits Floating Hospital on October 6th to celebrate their inspiring art with patients and the general public.
