"Dave's curiosity for the natural world is always obvious to me in his work, and he transfers that love for life to who ever chances upon it. His drawings and compositions show the wonder of the natural world, while his humor and his story layer it with life."
- Matt Nolte, Character Designer, Pixar

San Francisco, California- September 1, 2012
Immedium, Inc. proudly announces the publication of the children's picture book Animals Don't, So I Won't. Written and illustrated by the professional animator David Derrick, this colorful adventure combines the modern appeal of Ben10 with the timeless themes of Dr. Doolittle. Follow how a boy playfully changes into different animals to outwit his mom and avoid obeying her instructions.

Ben loved zoos and pretending he was an animal. Then his mom said, "Clean up for dinner." But Ben claimed, "Animals don't, so I won't." However, he didn't expect two could play the same game! Next child and parent transform into penguins, leopards, bears, and more in a humorous dance of wits. Sharing how certain animals eat their dinner, take baths, and go to sleep, this inventive tale reinvents the familiar evening routine.

Dave Derrick's first book was the well-received Sid the Squid and the Search for the Perfect Job, which is a bestseller at aquariums in Monterey Bay and Long Beach, Ca. Cartoon Brew wrote "this charming book reads like a classic animated feature that never was...Fun, and with an inspiring message. Perfect for kids of all ages."

Illustrated with naturalistic verve by a veteran artist at DreamWorks Feature Animation, Animal's Don't, So I Won't is an engaging story that all kids and parents can relate to. Based upon his own experience as a father, Derrick creates an instant classic for the bedtime reading of fun-loving animal admirers.

"[David Derrick's] artwork is unique due to his experience in the film and animation industry. To animate literally means to give life. David conveys movement and life in his pieces through strong poses and powerful gestures."
- Artists for Conservation

"The amazing part for me about Derrick's art is the sense of movement…I've come to appreciate the gift some artists have for capturing static art and giving it life. It's not just an unmoving drawing or painting, but somehow it comes alive. You can see that gift in Derrick's work..."
