We have partnered with Heritage Camps for many years. Author Oliver Chin will lead workshops at their Chinese Camp at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch (Fraser, CO) this Labor Day Weekend.
Oliver will teach kids how to make their own Year of the Dragon. Then he'll encourage teens to see themselves as Awesome Asian Americans. We look forward to sharing our stories in the Rocky Mountains!

Play with Your Food
by David Derrick
"If you are looking for a new author to explore in the wake of Read Across America Day, look no further than the wild world of David Derrick.... expect [Play with Your Food]to be just as visually stimulating and informative as [his first three storybooks]. In an eat or be eaten prehistoric world, a Coelurosauravus (small lizard) finds himself on the menu and tries to convince the Dimetrodon in question to play with his food instead of eating it."

Boy Dumplings
by Ying Chang Compestine, art by YongSheng Xuan
"Compestine spins out this variant on a classic trickster tale, developing both characters and premise with humor. Yamasaki sets the tale in a Beijing of yore, with cobbled streets and tile-roofed homes. An author's note gives cultural context for this original tale and a recipe for Boy-Free Dumplings."
