A. Happy New Year of the Rooster
---
Our new hero Ray wishes you a sunny 2017!
The Year of the Rooster is the 12th and final adventure in our annual series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac.
The amazing art is by Juan Calle (Good Dream, Bad Dream).
The lunar new year is 1/28, but events kick off this Saturday in San Francisco's Japanese Community Center in Japantown (11 am). To share the joy, Ray will fly farther than the swallows of Capistrano! For example, we visit many branches of the San Diego Public Library from January 25-26.
If you're a teacher or librarian, contact us to book a storytime program.

B. The Year of the Rooster at Barnes & Noble, Hallmark stores, and Costco
---
We are glad to announce Barnes & Noble features The Year of the Rooster nationwide this month.
Find the book in the "Chinese New Year" spinner rack in the children's book section. This is B&N's first major promotion of the series since 2011's The Year of the Rabbit, so we appreciate your support & foot traffic into their stores.
Also The Year of the Rooster will be sold at Hallmark greeting card stores, as well as at Costco wholesale clubs in the San Francisco area.
We encourage you to "chick" them all out!
C. Jennifer Wood draws a crowd!
---
Jennifer Wood (illustrator of The Year of the Dragon, Snake and Horse) has been nominated for animation's Annie Award for her character design work on Nickelodeon's TV series Pig Goat Banana Cricket.
Sponsored International Animated Film Society, the 44th Annual Annie Awards take place on Saturday, February 4th, at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA. Good luck Jennifer!
Earlier that day, Jennifer will sign her zodiac books at the Huntington Library (San Marino, CA) at 10:30 am to celebrate their Chinese New Year festival.
2. REVIEWS
Tales from the Chinese Zodiac
"A number of years ago I stumbled upon a series of children's books, subtitled Tales from the Chinese Zodiac. There was a book for the Chinese New Year, and I eagerly bought the one for the Year of the Snake, glad to find something to help my then 3 year old daughter appreciate the coming Chinese New Year. Fast forward to 2017 and the last of the series has come out, to celebrate the Year of the Rooster, a full dozen years after my own daughter was born in the last year of the Rooster, 2005. With a complete set of 12 published, you can now find a children's book for every year/sign in the Chinese Zodiac."

Animals Don't, So I Won't!
by David Derrick
"You will laugh your way through
Animals Don't, So I Won't! ... it is too, too funny how Derrick blends animal movements with Ben's perspective...It hits all the frustrations for a parent: the dirty room, picky eaters, bath time, bed time, and getting up in the morning… And it gives Ben the opportunity to "show off" all that he knows about animals, ROFL. Even better is that Mom takes Ben up on his challenges...Seriously, this is a book for adults as well as kids…and Mom and Dad will pick up some pointers to have fun with."
