A. The value of Summer reading
---
Even when school is out, keep kids reading!
That is the conclusion of years of educational research conducted by many organizations, from Harvard to the White House.
Summer reading programs help children retain their comprehension skills. Reading at least 5 books prevents the notorious "summer learning slide" that non-readers experience when they go back to school in the fall.
Reading adds up.
- Students in summer reading programs have better reading skills at the end of 3rd grade and score higher on standardized tests.
- Conversely, by the end of 6th grade, those children who don't participate may be two years behind their classmates.
Therefore Immedium's goal is to make reading fun!
Each title has been leveled to Common Core standards, marked appropriate for grade and reading levels, and highlighted by literary themes.
Enjoy all our adventures on the go - they are now available on Google Play for Android devices.
B. preview - Good Dream, Bad Dream
---
Our first Spanish bilingual book is at the printer and will be published in October 2014.
Good Dream, Bad Dream was created by Juan Calle, from the art studio Liberum Donum (based in Bogota, Columbia) and Serena Valentino.
When Julio can't sleep, his papa tells him that people everywhere have summoned heroes to combat their fears. And so the reader is introduced to a colorful parade of legendary champions from around the globe.
We have 4 free 8 x 10 prints of the amazing wraparound cover to give away!
The first people who pre-order a copy from our website this month will get it.

C. New Parents event in San Mateo
---
Immedium returns to the San Mateo Event Center for the annual SF Birth and Baby fair on June 21st.
We always like meeting new and expectant parents!
They especially enjoy the Tales from the Chinese Zodiac series, which commemorates the birth years of their children.
The first 150 families will receive a goody bag filled with samples, products, gift cards and discounts! Plus participate in free demos, workshops, and prize raffles.
Again we have 4 free 8 x 10 prints of our heroine Hannah and her family from The Year of Horse.
- we'll give them away to the first people who order a Zodiac book from our website this month.
2. REVIEWS
Julie Black Belt
By Oliver Chin,
illustrated by Charlene Chua
"The artist’s successful use of bright colors and clean shading effects combined with a fine details in the girl’s expression come together to create a truly inspiring masterpiece–one that just might inspire young girls to participate in martial arts."

I'm the Scariest Thing in the Jungle!
By David Derrick
"Derrick’s tumbling drawings are delightfully balanced, with the muscular frames of the heroes and the other denizens of their world naturalistically yet loosely drawn and the environment infused with glowing watercolor blues, yellows, and greens. The story’s rhythm is similar—it spreads broadly at first before tightening upon our scared little protagonists. With dialogue colored to identify both characters, this would be ideal for two kids reading along."
