Charlene Chua illustrated our series Julie Black Belt.

- The Belt of Fire
A few months ago,
Publishers Weekly interviewed Charlene about her evolving career as an artist and author.
"I've liked drawing as far back as I can remember. When I was a kid, I drew animals, and later I drew comics. I think the first illustration I got paid to do was a small comic I created as a teen. My mother was writing for a local magazine at the time, and she came up with a short comic that I illustrated."
The second book she wrote, Pink Pajamas, became a Junior Library Guild selection.
Congratulations, Charlene!

Timmy and Tammy's Train of Thought
by Oliver Chin
illustrated by Heath McPherson
"One of our readers' favorite railroad adventures is Timmy and Tammy's Train of Thought. The energetic illustrations by Heath McPherson bring to life locomotives of all shapes, sizes, and sounds. Youngsters can enjoy identifying real life engines. Plus their parents have told us they've had to read this book every day until their copies fell apart... and still did not get tired of it."

The Woollyhoodwinks
by David G. Derrick Jr.
"I love gorgeously illustrated children's books so I was very excited when I [saw] The Wooly Hoodwinks vs. The Dark Patch. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen and I especially love the mix of real crafted plush and sewn details with more conventional illustration."
