A. The Octonauts nominated for TV Emmy Awards
---
The two new Octonauts Movie Specials on Netflix have been nominated for 2021's 48th Daytime Emmy Awards, streaming on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 8 pm EST.

The Caves of Sac Actun has been nominated for
- Outstanding Main Title for a Daytime Animated Program

The Great Barrier Reef has been nominated for
- Outstanding Writing Team for a Preschool Animated Program

Meanwhile, the New York Times' writer Ben Sisario cited the Octonauts in What's in Our Queue? on 6/30/21:

"The anthropomorphic, ever-jolly Octonauts have taught me about cookie-cutter sharks, the surprisingly cute vampire squid and what a 'twilight zone' really is: a depth layer of the ocean marked by minimal sunlight."

Our four original storybooks are fun gifts for your friends' birthdays!

B. That Girl on TV storytimes
---
Casa Hogar (www.casahogarcabo.com) is an orphanage in Los Cabos, San Lucas, Mexico. Serving children ages 7 and older, it was featured in the new Netflix movie Blue Miracle (starring Dennis Quaid), based upon the true story of how Casa Hogar's administrator won a 2014 fishing tournament and donated the prize winnings to the orphanage, which was damaged by Hurricane Odile.

In June, author Leticia Ordaz and her family visited and donated books . After touring the orphanage, Leticia read That Girl on TV Could be Me to the kids, who put on a musical performance for her family. At the end of the day, one teen wrote a poem about how he was inspired and shared his dreams of wanting to be a writer.

Leticia reads her bilingual Spanish storytime online at the San Jose Public Library on 7/7 at 3 pm PST.

Giveaway #3:
The first 3 people, who order an autographed copy of That Girl on TV Could be Me this month, will get a free 8 x10 print

I'm the Scariest Thing in the Jungle!
by David Derrick

"David Derrick's book is simply adorable. A young tiger and crocodile have the kind of show down two little kids might have on a school playground. The author has perfectly captured those little kid voices, and his artwork is just so cute! The story will entertain kids of all ages and is sure to elicit plenty of giggles."
- Laurisa White Reyes, storyteller

Baltazar and the Flying Pirates
by Oliver Chin, illustrated by Justin Roth

"...kids step right into a fun and beautifully illustrated adventure...The story looks like an animated film, and the lively drawings prove perfect for inspiring little minds. Your child will not be disappointed by this story; in fact, don't be surprised if you get requests to read it over and over again!"
- Mom Central
