A. Hannah says hello!
---
January 31st maked the 1st day of the lunar new year. Hannah, the star of the 9th adventure in the Tales from the Chinese Zodiac, is pleased to meet you!

Likewise, the creators of The Year of the Horse are greeting readers throughout California. Artist Jennifer Wood enterained folks at Pasadena's Kidspace Children's Museum on 2/1. Next she will read the morning storytime at nearby Vroman's Bookstore on 2/8.

Meanwhile author Oliver Chin enjoyed the festival at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana on 2/2. He will present at many Southern California libraries and schools this week.

Then Oliver returns to Northern California to the San Francisco Symphony (2/8) and Oakland Museum on 2/9 (Amy Ma will narrate the tale at San Francisco's Asian Art Museum on the same day).

Good Reads with Ronna wrote: "I loved the postitive 'can-do' attitude the book conveyed."

B. Schools love our author visits
---
We like sharing our stories with students and knowing that schools like our visits too.

Author Oliver Chin recently saw the families at Slanted & Enchanted pre-school in San Francisco. They create a newsletter about their activities every day... boy, we're impressed!

We're glad everyone had a swell time - read all about it here!

C. The Octonauts at an aquarium near you
---
We're pleased to report that our original books are reaching new fans at aquariums across America. What could make better homes for our fun-loving crew?

We appreciate the early support of the Aquarium of the Pacific (Long Beach), Monterey Bay, Vancouver, and California Academy of Sciences (San Francisco).

Now you can enjoy copies at Seattle, Loveland Living Planet (Utah), Texas (Corpus Cristi), Shedd (Chicago), Baltimore, Georgia (Atlanta), Florida (Tampa), and Mystic (Connecticut).

Keep inspiring kids to learn about and protect our world!

I'm The Scariest Thing In The Jungle!
By David Derrick

"Excellent book that a ton of kids will enjoy. I can't wait to share it in our library! I especially look forward to seeing my kids hunt the pages of I'm the Scariest Thing...looking for the animals listed on [its] endpapers (which double as field guides)."

Julie Black Belt: The Belt of Fire
By Oliver Chin, illustrated by Charlene Chua

"I love the message in both books - never give up, the best things in life aren't easy, teamwork always works, and teachers are great. Julie is a good-hearted girl who you can easily relate to - she wants to be a black belt, not a white belt. I like that it shows how hard it is to get different belts in the martial arts (just FYI I am now up to a blue belt in jujitsu and a green belt in karate and I have my black belt in TaeKwon-Do - so I know it's hard)."
