A. Light a Lantern for the Year of the Snake
---
The 8th in the annual series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac, Suzie the Snake has met fans at scores of festivals in the past few months.
On Saturday, March 2nd, author Oliver Chin celebrates the annual Lantern Festival at the Chinese American Museum of Los Angeles (located downtown by historic Olvera Street). Enjoy free arts and crafts!
On Sunday, March 3rd, Oliver will autograph books at Crissy Field's picturesque Warming Hut Bookstore and Cafe in San Francisco.
The Boston-based newspaper Sampan wrote:
"The book is gorgeously illustrated by Jennifer Wood in lush pastels. All 12 zodiac animals appear throughout the book, making it fun for kids and grownups alike to hunt for them throughout the pages… The heartwarming story about overcoming misconceptions resounds in any culture."
Meanwhile Paper Tigers wrote:
"Children will delight in all the ingenious ways Suzie helps out - and it can be no accident that Chin has created a story that resonates with 's' sounds, just perfect for reading this snake story aloud."
B. Billie the Unicorn in Gemworld
---
Also on Saturday, March 2nd, Brianne Drouhard, creator of Billie the Unicorn (www.billietheunicorn.com), attends the Emerald City Comic-con in Seattle, WA.
Drop by Table K-20 to get a Billie sketch, autographed book, and t-shirt!
Gems are a trending topic, since Brianne also directed and produced the episodes of the cool Amethyst animated shorts for the DC Nation block on the cable TV channel The Cartoon Network.
Brianne's fresh take has revitalized the heroic Princess of Gemworld from the 1980's comic book. Catch the action on YouTube - watch all 6 episodes:

Recently, the animated TV series Justin Time was nominated in the category of Best Animated Television Production For Preschool Children in the 40th annual awards by the International Animated Film Society.
In May we're publishing the second children's book adaptation from a Justin Time episode:
The Big Pet Story
by creator Brandon James Scott
In this adventure, Justin really wants a pet. So he and his pal Squidgy wonder which animal would be the best one to have! As luck would have it, they suddenly find themselves in imperial India, with their friend Olive as their pet keeper…and a huge elephant named Tiny in their care. Boy is everyone in for a big surprise!
2. REVIEWS
The Treehouse Heroes and the Forgotten Beast
By Phil Amara and Alina Chau
"This action-packed adventure stars five super-powered teens focused on saving the plight of the endangered Zez, a dragon-like creature that's the last of its kind. Think Power Rangers meets traditional Asian folk tale meets exquisite scroll painting."
- ForeWord magazine
The Octonauts and the Only Lonely Monster
By Meomi
"We all love the Octonauts cartoon series in the house. It's packed with real information about underwater creatures making it educational as well as fun. The original books are more fantastical but we appreciate both on their own merits, and this book is a fine example."
