C. Justin Time steams ahead
---
Canada's National Post recently interviewed Justin Time's creator Brandon James Scott, who reflected on how the story came to be:
"I took a lot of inspiration from Calvin and Hobbes, which was my favourite comic strip of all time. He had a stuffed tiger, but to him it was a real tiger. And that's the kind of stuff that happens with Justin. His friend Squidgy is just a piece of plasticine, but to him he comes to life and they go on adventures together."
Meanwhile CM magazine gave Justin Time: The Pancake Express its highest 4 star review:
"It is refreshing to see a new series for this age group featuring a male character and with a focus on imagination and education. The book contains accurate scientific and geographic information, but it is presented as part of the adventure. In this story, the process of creating steam from coal is explained. Canadian geography is shown through the illustrations of the Rocky Mountains along with some iconic Canadian wildlife."
2. NEW E-BOOKS
Baltazar and the Flying Pirates
new Apple iBook
"5 stars: An amusement park beset by pirates is a winning combination. Young pirate apprentices will enjoy this wild ride as Baltazar and his new friends search for treasure. At thirty-nine pages, it is longer than the usual picture book, but it’s geared toward children who can read. Even so, younger pirates will also enjoy having the story read to them as they explore the intricate and wonderful artwork that fills each page."

The Year of the Rat:
Tales from the Chinese Zodiac
new Apple iBook
"The third in Chin's animal zodiac series provides a waggish romp exploring the characteristics of those born in the upcoming Year of the Rat (like my daughter)."
