A. Hispanic Heritage Month
---
September 15th begins the annual celebration of the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans.

In 1968 President Lyndon Johnson enacted the commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Week. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan expanded this period to cover 30 days. Anniversaries of independence for many Latin American countries occur during these weeks.

Immedium has published two stories bilingual in Spanish. The first was:

Good Dream, Bad Dream: The World's Heroes Save the Night!
created by Juan Calle and Serena Valentino
- starred review by School Library Journal

This dynamically illustrated adventure highlights how children share common experiences. In every culture, across continents and centuries, kids have relied on mythical heroines and legendary heroes. Little ones are not alone! From time immemorial, the young draw strength from the mighty to face the unknown and overcome their fears.

B. Leticia Ordaz shares her story in Sacramento, CA
---
Our second Spanish bilingual book was That Girl on TV Could be Me! The Journey of a Latina News Anchor. Author Leticia Ordaz continues to share her life story. Her family immigrated from Mexico and helped her forge a career in journalism and broadcasting.

The Sacramento Literacy Foundation's mission is to improve lives by collaborating with organizations in its community to advance literacy skills. A major fundraiser for the Sacramento Public Library, the SLF has sponsored Leticia's current book tour.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, Leticia will present to hundreds of elementary school students. Leticia's That Girl on TV Could be Me inspires the next generation to pursue their dreams.

C. on deck: More Awesome Asian Americans!
---
Thanks to everyone who backed our Kickstarter campaign! Volume 2 features another 20 diverse trailblazers who have impacted many professions.

This "graphic novel" sequel is as fantastically illustrated as Volume 1. Artist Juan Calle brings each profile to life in living color.

Now this 130 page paperback is at the printer. It has a publication date around Thanksgiving. We look forward to sharing special rewards with all our backers.

2. REVIEWS

The Woollyhoodwinks vs. the Dark Patch
by Jeff Root and Scott Runcorn

"I love gorgeously illustrated children's books ... t is the cutest thing I have ever seen and I especially love the mix of real crafted plush and sewn details with more conventional illustration."

Justin Time: The Big Pet Story
by Brandon James Scott

"This is a good book to address the desire almost every child has for a pet. Through his bright illustrations, Scott successfully shows how much work a pet can be. While it may not deter your child from begging for a new animal, it is a good way to prepare him for the work that is involved, especially if the animal is going to be "his responsibility."
