A. Celebrate World Oceans Day
---
On June 8th everyone can honor the essential roles our oceans play.
Founded by The Ocean Project (www.theoceanproject.org) in 2002, this annual celebration involves worldwide organizations to protect our seas and inspire you to join a nearby event. This year's theme is preventing plastics from polluting our waters.
The Octonauts continue to be "spokesanimals" for this cause!
Download free art activities for your kids to raise their awareness and encourage them to be part of the solution!
B. Upcoming Fall book + Kickstarter campaign
---
We are busy producing the sequel to The Discovery of Ramen in our series The Asian Hall of Fame.
There are many intriguing and important inventions across Asia... and we have picked two more:
The Discovery of Fireworks & Gunpowder!
We plan to launch our Kickstarter campaign in July to spread the word and reach more readers.
Take a sneak peek and tell your friends!
C. Summer is for Reading!
---
School's out for summer!
But remember: reading is key to prevent the "summer slide!" Research shows that children who read during their vacation are more likely to do better in school when they return in the fall.
We encourage your families to enroll in the free summer reading programs sponsored by your local public libraries.
For example, the San Francisco Public Library's offering this season is "Summer Stride." Their programming focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) to engage kids' curiosity and creativity.
Immedium is happy to participate!
On June 9th, Saturday at 2 pm, Oliver Chin presents The Octonauts & the Great Ghost Reef for family storytime at the Anza branch in the Richmond district.
Listen to a fun yarn and see cool examples of how animals are specially adapted to their habitats. Plus we'll discuss the importance of preserving the environment for animals.
