A. Enjoy fantastic role playing!
---
Brianne Drouhard is the creator of our colorful storybook Billie the Unicorn.
A veteran storyboard artist for many TV shows, Brianne pens a popular webcomic Harpy Gee. Now you can watch the animated adventures of Harpy and her pet goblin cat Pumpkin!
Nickeolodeon is broadcasting the Harpy Gee episodes on its YouTube channel. Congrats Brianne!
B. Draw your own Year of the Dog at the SF Apple store!
---
Author of the annual series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac, Oliver Chin leads a free workshop for kids at the Apple store in San Francisco's Union Square this Saturday, 3/10 at 1 pm.
Create your own children's book characters! Inspired by the art of Jeremiah Alcorn, kids can illustrate their own Chinese New Year-inspired dog (or other animals characters), using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
Sign up and come to 300 Post Street for this 1 hour class, sponsored by the Chinese Cultural Center of San Francisco.
C. Oliver Chin interviewed on ABC TV
---
ABC TV (Channel 7 in San Francisco) recently profiled Oliver Chin and The Year of the Dog (illustrated by Jeremiah Alcorn).
Also read Oliver's interview on Wes Radez's informative website Chinese American Famiy. There Wes wrote:
"That core qualities from traditional Chinese zodiac animals offer the foundation for new storytelling adventures that any child will find fun and can appreciate. Kids make personal connections that make new cultures less foreign and more accessible."
We look forward to sharing our tales at more schools, libraries, and community events this year!
2. REVIEWS
The Discovery of Ramen
by Phil Amara, Oliver Chin
Illustrated by Juan Calle
"The first title in the series, this profile a ubiquitous fast food should have broad appeal. The stylized cartoon characters and welcome diversity among the patrons pictured at noodle shops is echoed by the creative team who share a background in animation which is reflected in the story's design and pacing."

Billie the Unicorn
"It's filled with gorgeous drawings of the type that used to be animated - this would have made a great TV special 25 years ago. In fact, it would make a great kids special or short childrens film today... [this] book will keep you and the small ones quite entertained."
- Cartoon Brew
