A. May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month
---
In 1978 President Jimmy Carter designated the annual celebration of the contributions and cultures of Asian Americans. Then in 1992 President George Bush assigned the entire month of May to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese (May 7, 1843), and the finish of the transcontinental railroad (May 10, 1869) by Chinese workers.
On May 12th, the White House holds an AAPI summit in Washington DC that is open to the public.
Likewise, Immedium publishes stories with Asian American themes and characters which appeal all readers.

The SCCRC has invited Oliver Chin to kick off the day and encourage the children. He will share Immedium's catalog of colorful storybooks to inspire their writing.
2. REVIEWS
The Octonauts
By Meomi
"[The original Octonauts storybooks] are way better than other books written based on children's cartoons. The books as well as the cartoons follow a team of eight underwater explorer animals as they go on adventures in the ocean and encounter marine wildlife. These stories would be a great jumping off point for unit study about the ocean."
- Enchanted Homeschooling Mom
Good Dream, Bad Dream
By Juan Calle and Serena Valentino
"This exciting story features monsters and heroes from many different cultures presented in action-packed comic-style illustrations. Additionally, this bilingual book is written in both English and Spanish, making it accessible for speakers of either language."
