A. Happy Year of the Horse!
---
We wish you a 2014 full of hope and helpfulness...just like our new character Hannah!
This horse gallops forth to celebrate the season, and leads the 9th adventure in the Tales from the Chinese Zodiac.
After illustrating the dragon and snake, artist Jennifer Wood shows her particular fondness for horses!
Author Oliver Chin autographs this Saturday in San Francisco's Japantown at the JCCCNC's annual new year festival. Then he and Jennifer will share the story at bookstores, schools, libraries, and museums across California.
Special offer: the first person who buys an autographed Horse book from www.immedium.com will receive a free 8x10 print of Hannah and her family! Giddy up!
B. Good Dream, Bad Dream = Kickstarter success
---
Our friend Juan Calle leads a studio of talented artists in Bogota, Columbia. Recently his campaign to create a new storybook on Kickstarter was successfully funded.
Good Dream, Bad Dream is about the boy Julio who can't sleep because he fears scary creatures. However, Julio's papa comforts him: people around the world have always been inspired by equally mythic heroes. So Julio can turn a bad dream into a good one by enlisting these mythic and powerful protectors.
Illustrating it in a bold, animated, comics style, Juan's team wanted this story to be bilingual in Spanish to highlight its universal appeal.
We'll help make Juan's dream come true! We'll partner to produce the book for publication in October 2014.
C. The Octonauts will visit China
---
The Octonauts TV series will be broadcast in China on the state television broadcaster CCTV, as reported by the UK Times.
Meanwhile, new fans are discovering our 4 original stories that started it all.
The Octonauts & the Only Lonely Monster:
"Stunning artwork and a beautiful message about friendship. Both my children ask for this book again and again. The pictures are detailed and make great conversation starters too." - Mommy N
The Octonauts & the Frown Fish:
"If your children or grandchildren love Octonauts this is a great book to read to them. We have read it twenty times a day since Christmas."
- Melinda Sedelmeyer
2. REVIEWS
I'm The Scariest Thing In The Jungle!
By David Derrick
""Facts are revealed about each animal as the dialogue plays back and forth. The accompanying water color illustrations are beautiful and a sense of movement exists in each page spread that evokes two friends sparring with one another."
- The Busy Librarian
Julie Black Belt: The Belt of Fire
By Oliver Chin, illustrated by Charlene Chua
""Julie Black Belt is an endearing character first seen in The Kung Fu Chronicles in 2008, and now she is back in The Belt of Fire. Julie is a regular girl who loves watching action movies starring her favourite heroine. But she's no couch potato, she also has gumption and loves to practice Kung Fu just like her role model. Both Julie Black Belt books are great for early elementary school students...My daughter was happy to see this as she too is a little ball of energy and there aren't many English books with Asian girl characters like her! The comic book style fits well with the high energy character and Chua's illustrations are great fun."
